I didn’t mean to ignore you. As you can see, I’m not doing much writing and so I don’t check this site often. For a while I was posting everything I wrote on the writing forum, and I started trying to change my style based on the comments. Then it wasn’t as much fun. I took a job at an animal shelter, and that got me very busy. Of course now it’s spring, so I have another excuse to avoid writing.
Otherwise, life is fine. I spent yesterday visiting with tigers that I hadn’t seen in a few months. I’m reading “Frankenstein” by Mary Shelley, and loving her love of words.
I am glad you are well. I still think of that class we took – it was so much fun. It really got me started writing again.
I am still writing: a lot a poetry now, but a fair amount of prose, too. All in my usual, ‘oh, please, let’s not take this too seriously’ style.
I know what you mean about listening too much to the opinions of others. I joined another writer’s website about a year ago. I have really enjoyed it. If you’re interested, even if only to read, let me know. I’d be happy to hook you up.
You should write again. You’re very good at it.
cheers,
jel
P.S. I’ve never read “Frankenstein”. Perhaps I’ll visit the library tomorrow.
Maybe a different group would help. I was getting great support from several people, but the suggestions were always along the lines of making it more “edgy”. My writing reflects my life, I guess. Pretty simple and quiet.
Frankenstein was an interesting read. It’s not terribly old ( early 1800’s ) but the use of language has changed so much. Very long, complex sentences, with semicolons. Long elaborate monologues.
What’s going on in 2009?
cheers,
jel

What are you up to ? Still writing poetry I hope.

Do send me the link to the group, please.
